Sadly, timeshare is still abused by some companies that try to extract money from people on a fraudulent basis. Here is some advice about purchasing timeshare

  • Do not give money on the day of your introduction into timeshare. This is in the UK or in the rest of the world. This includes credit cards.

  • Insist on a 14 day cooling off period. This is the legal requirement in most countries but this is not followed by some of the fraudulent companies. The 14 day cooling off period means that you have time to check out to see if you have made a good purchase.

  • When you agree to purchase a timeshare, make sure that the money is paid into a trustee account and not the company that you are dealing with.

  • Do not be tempted by "free" holidays abroad. This tends to lead to a holiday that you have to pay extras for "worthless" insurance and extortionate flight costs. You will also have to agree to a high pressure selling appointment, which could last for most of the day.
